A new era is beginning for the Cleveland Indians. No, not new ownership or front office, but rather a new broadcaster for the Tribe. Fox Sports Ohio beat out Time Warner Cable for the rights to broadcast the Indians. The deal is estimated to be somewhere near 250 million dollars.
Fox Sports Ohio already owns the broadcasting rights to such professional teams at the Cincinnati Reds, Columbus Blue Jackets, Columbus Crew, and as well collegiate schools Dayton and the University of Cincinnati.
This sale appears on the outside to be a financial boost to the Indians, but that does not mean the Dolan's will allow that money to be spent.
Forbes magazine listed the Indians as one of the most profitable Major League Baseball organizations, which does not help the fans presumption of the Indians' Dolan's not spending money to improve the team. No one knows how much a financial boost this new deal could provide if any at all, but fans will certainly want to see more money put on the field rather than fireworks.
